How much do AI visibility tools cost?
Paid entry plans run from $29 to $295 a month. Per tracked prompt, published plans cost $1.22 to $3.96 a month. Profound no longer publishes a self-service price: you get a free trial, then a quote. The same workload of 50 prompts on 3 engines, tracked daily, costs $90 to $250 a month in the 4 tools that publish enough to price it.

Headline prices are hard to compare because plans count different things. So we priced one setup that suits a first B2B SaaS question set: 50 buyer prompts, 3 engines, once a day. That is 4,500 AI answers a month.

How we compared prices
- Prices are the monthly list prices shown on each vendor's pricing page on October 29, 2026, in US dollars, before tax.
- Annual billing is cheaper where the page says so: 15% at Otterly and Peec AI, 17% at AthenaHQ. Semrush shows its price billed annually.
- Price per tracked prompt is the plan price divided by the prompts it includes.
- Price per AI answer is the plan price divided by the answers it can collect in a month: prompts × included engines × 30 days, or the plan's own response, credit or check allowance when it has one.
- Add-ons, extra seats and Enterprise quotes are not included. Where a vendor asks you to contact sales, we do not estimate the price.
A prompt is not the same unit everywhere. Some plans cap responses or credits below what their prompt count suggests, and none of these prices tell you how answers are collected or how often each one is repeated. Treat the per-answer column as a way to compare capacity, not quality.
Per answer, an audit is the expensive option. That is not what it sells.
RecoProof's audit is $499 for the first 5 customers, then $750. It collects 90 first-pass answers (30 buyer questions on 3 engines) plus targeted repeats. The tools above collect thousands of answers a month for less. What the audit price pays for is choosing the questions, human review of every finding, a three-competitor diagnosis and a 90-day action plan.
Buy a monitoring tool when you already know which questions decide your category and someone owns acting on the changes. Start with an audit when you do not yet know where you lose, or need a defensible baseline before committing to annual software. Monitoring after an audit is $149 a month with a 3-month minimum.

The cheapest paid plan we found is Otterly Lite at $29 a month (15 prompts, four engines, daily tracking, unlimited team members). AthenaHQ's Essential tier is free with 300 credits, and Profound has a free seven-day trial. Per AI answer, the cheapest plan is Otterly Premium at $0.010.
How much does Profound cost?
Profound no longer lists a self-service price. Its pricing page offers a free trial (50 prompts run daily for 7 days on three engines, one language and one region) and quoted Enterprise contracts. Agency client workspaces at $399/month each. The self-service Starter ($99) and Growth ($399) plans listed on August 31, 2026 are no longer on the pricing page.

Starter is $95 a month for 50 prompts, Pro is $245 a month for 150 prompts, Advanced is $495 a month for 350 prompts, each on three models of your choice. A fourth model costs $30, $70 or $140/month (billed annually) on Starter, Pro or Advanced. Annual billing is 15% cheaper.
Is a more expensive tool more accurate?
Not necessarily. Price buys prompt volume, engines and features. It does not tell you whether answers are collected from the consumer interface or an API, how often they are repeated, or whether a mention is separated from a recommendation. Ask for a sample of raw answers before you commit to an annual plan.
